Following the DNA revelation, Wandel even issued an apology to the McCanns in January 2024. However, her actions seem to contradict her earlier remorse. She attended a vigil commemorating the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance in August 2024 and reportedly left a handwritten note at the McCanns' UK address.
This strange saga took another turn as a second woman was arrested alongside Wandel, though her role remains murky, she was released on bail shortly after. As for Wandel, she remains in custody with a court date set for April 7, 2025, at Leicester Crown Court.
